ITC pathway and boardwalk connections to Bosco Fields

Description:
Through MDOT's Local Agency Project office and federal funding program through SEMCOG ($230,000), the City will be constructing a pathway between the existing ITC Trail and Bosco
Fields Park. Construction will involve the placement of a hot-mix asphalt shared use path from the existing ITC Trail, south of 11 Mile Road, easterly to Bosco Fields Park, connecting to Beck Road, including approximately 600 feet of a 14-foot-wide boardwalk.
Traffic Control/Detours:
No detours or closures will be necessary for this project. A small area of the southwestern portion of Bosco Fields will be sectioned off for the staging of contractor equipment
Progress:
7/23/36: All of the helical piers have been installed for the substructure of the boardwalk. Over the next four weeks, the contractor will be building the boardwalk. Once complete, they will begin grading and excavating the pathway at both ends of the boardwalk in preparation for new asphalt pavement.
6/16/2026: The tree subcontractor has completed the removal of all trees, stumps and roots within the proposed pathway/boardwalk limits. The helical pier subcontractor has installed roughly half of the piers to date and should be complete by the end of this week.
5/12/2026: All trees, stumps, and roots have been removed from the proposed pathway limits. During the week of May 18th, crews will begin drilling in boardwalk piers
3/26/2026: On April 7th, the helical pier subcontractor will begin drilling-in boardwalk piers.
3/10/2026: The tree subcontractor has completed the removal of all trees, stumps, and roots within the proposed pathway/boardwalk limits. This week and next, the helical pier subcontractor will begin drilling in the boardwalk piers.
3/3/2026: This week, the tree subcontractor will begin to mobilize and start to remove the necessary trees, stumps and roots.
