Description:
As part of the Public Safety Buildings initiative and the new Public Safety Headquarters project, Lee Begole Drive is being reconstructed to connect Crescent Boulevard to the north and Grand River Avenue to the south. This road will provide a direct, efficient route for emergency vehicles while reducing potential delays from traffic congestion.
Phase 1 of the project includes a water main extension, new concrete storm sewer, new curbed asphalt roadway with sidewalk, and a roundabout at the Lee Begole Drive and 11 Mile Road intersection.

Traffic Control/Detours:
Once the project begins, the Recycling Center on Lee Begole Drive will be closed, and 11 Mile Road will be open to local traffic only.
Progress:
9/8/2026: The City of Novi and the Resource Recovery & Recycling Authority of Southwest Oakland County (RRRASOC) are temporarily closing the Novi Recycling Drop-Off Site for improvements related to the Lee BeGole Drive extension.
Starting Monday, September 21, the Novi Recycling Drop-Off Site at the Novi Department of Public Works (26300 Lee BeGole Dr.) will temporarily close. The Last Day of Operation will be Sunday, September 20.
Residents can use the RRRASOC Recycling Drop-Off Site at 20000 W. Eight Mile Rd. in Southfield (northeast corner of Eight Mile and Evergreen).
9/8/2026: The tree and clearing subcontractor will begin today on the north end, working from Crescent Boulevard to the east.
8/24/2026: Preconstruction meeting.
