1.      Case No. 10-007 43525 West Oaks Drive – Best Buy – Geek Squad

The petitioner is requesting a variance to allow installation of one (1) additional 18 square foot wall sign on the south elevation of the building located at 43525 West Oaks Drive for Best Buy.  The property is zoned RC and located west of Novi Road and north of I-96.

Section 28-5 (3) states:  “Number of on premise advertising signs permitted: states: “No building or parcel of land shall be allowed more than one (1) sign permitted under this section….”

IN CASE NO 10-007 Motion to approve the variance as requested.  The approval is specific for the 18 SF sign to be located on the rear (south elevation) of the building above the overhead doors at 43525 West Oaks Drive. The request is based upon circumstances of features that are exceptional and unique to the property and do not result from conditions that exist generally in the City or that are self created.  The failure to grant relief will not unreasonably prevent or limit the use of the property and will result in substantially more than mere inconvenience or inability to attain a higher economic or financial return.  The grant of relief will not result in a use of structure that is incompatible with or unreasonably interferes with adjacent or surrounding properties, will result in substantial justice being done to both the applicant and adjacent or surrounding properties, and is not inconsistent with the spirit of the ordinance

OTHER MATTERS

Member Krieger asks about the zoning for Fountain Walk in regards to the lighting requirements at night.  The area in question is between Chuckie Cheese and the Putting Edge in the back area.  There is a fenced in area that is very dark.  I feel this is a safety issue because we keep hearing that kids are going out at night and fighting. 

Mr. Boulard stated that he would gladly check into this matter.
