The Department of Public Works’ mission is to enhance public safety and protect public health by providing effective and efficient operations, maintenance, and engineering services related to the City’s infrastructure, urban forest, and fleet assets. DPW is organized into four functional divisions: Engineering, Field Operations, Fleet Asset, and Water and Sewer.

- 39,354 street and park trees
- 304 vehicles and major pieces of equipment in the City's fleet
- 4,344 fire hydrants
- 359 miles of water main pipe
- 13,530 water service connections
- 285 miles of sanitary sewer main pipe
