I wish to extend my appreciation and congratulations to you on your nomination and selection as the Novi Public Safety Employees of the Month – January 2019.  Both of you were nominated by Detective Jeremy Stempien for your diligent efforts on a recent case.  The Public Safety Innovation Committee selected you for your quick thinking, superb interview and interrogation techniques, and relentless follow-up on a serious crime investigation in the City of Novi.

On Friday, January 25, 2019, at 7:59 p.m., Novi Officers took a lobby complaint regarding threats made to conduct acts of violence at Novi High School.  As a result of the initial investigation, both of you responded to the Novi Police Department on Saturday January 26th and began investigating the complaint.  Detective Zabick preserved all electronic correspondence through the social media site which lead to valuable information, from the media provider, identifying a possible suspect.  Detective Zabick along with Detective Mince responded to the suspect’s home and conducted a thorough interview regarding the threat to the high school which lead to a full confession.  The suspect was arrested and Detectives secured a three count warrant for the following charges:  False report of a felony, false report or threat of a bomb/harmful device, and malicious use of telecommunication services.  The suspect was ultimately arraigned on the warrant and received a $10,000 cash or surety bond no 10% allowed with restrictions and transported to the Oakland County Jail.

Detectives Mince and Zabick, you enhance the image of the Novi Police Department and the investigations team.  Your attention to detail, excellent work ethic, and relentless follow-up resulted in the apprehension of the suspect involved in making serious threats to the Novi High School.   The quickness and thoroughness of your investigation highlights the Novi Police Department’s stance on any threats made to the Schools within the City of Novi.   The full-time fire and police command officers and administrators congratulate you on being named Public Safety Employees of the Month – January 2019.
