September 2017 - Detective Michael Wilson
Detective Michael Wilson
The Novi Public Safety Administration would like to extend our appreciation and congratulations to Detective Michael Wilson on his nomination and selection as the Novi Public Safety Employee of the Month – September 2017. Detective Wilson was nominated by Detective Sergeant Scott Baetens and Detective Steve Balog and selected by the Implementation Committee for his thorough criminal investigation resulting in the identification of a Larceny from Automobile (LFA) and home invasion suspect.
On September 5th, Detective Wilson was assigned several Home Invasion and LFA investigations involving suspects who had stolen a woman’s purse and used the stolen credit cards at various locations throughout Livingston and Oakland County. Detective Wilson worked with Livingston County investigators and were able to develop the same suspect vehicle purchasing items at a gas station in a neighboring jurisdiction. Information bulletins were disseminated regionally and the suspects were subsequently arrested by Livingston County. Detective Wilson proceeded to continue with his follow-up investigation and discovered that one of the arrested suspects had pawned a ring, which has now been verified and linked to the original Home Invasion report. Due to Detective Wilson’s direct follow-up and determination along with working with our regional partners, this incident will be submitted for criminal prosecution with a portion of the victim’s property being returned to the owner.
We applaud Detective Wilson on his tenacious follow-up that resulted in the identification of a home invasion, LFA suspect resulting in the retrieval of a victim’s stolen jewelry and future criminal prosecution of the suspects. The full-time fire and police command officers and administrators congratulate Detective Wilson on being named Public Safety Employee of the Month – September 2017.
