Shredding Saturdays

First Saturday Every Month, 9am-12pm

Through a partnership with Corrigan Record Storage, Novi residents may recycle up to 300 pounds with NAID Certified Secured Shredding for a $5 fee. Over 300 pounds is $.05 per pound. Hard drive destruction is available for a $5 fee.

Novi Youth Council

Mondays (bi-weekly), 3-4pm

In summer 2005, the Novi Youth Council adopted a policy resolution encouraging Novi youth to become civically active within the community as members of the Nov Youth Council. Each year the Novi City Council interviews and appoints school students to the Youth Council. The 21-member council is charged with making recommendations to the City Council concerning the needs of children, youth and families in the city and the appropriate means by which public and private agencies in cooperation with volunteer efforts may address such needs. The two year term will begin July 2018 and go through Dec 2019. If you are a Novi resident in 9-12 grade and are interested in applying for a position, please visit or call the Community Relations Department at 248.735.5628.

July is National Parks and Recreation MonthEXPLORE YOUR PARKS is an interactive activity so you can discover and explore Novi’s parks. Amenities and park locations can be found at

There are two different ways to participate in the “Explore Your Parks” summer challenge.

  1. EXPLORER CARDS: Below are four different Explorer Cards.  Additional copies can be found at and at the Novi Civic Center. Turn in one or all four cards by July 31 to be entered into a drawing for the chance to win a Novi Parks gift certificate good for any of our programs.
  2. EXPLORE YOUR PARK PHOTO CONTEST: We want to see your family exploring our parks, so take your best photo and share it with us. The winning photographer will receive a Novi Parks gift certificate and the photo will be displayed in the Civic Center atrium for the month of August.  Submit your photos via social media or email:

Drone Workshop

Learn to build and fly your own quad (drone). During this workshop you will learn the basics of quadcopter and quadcopter safety, build a quad, understand various firmware and take the quadcopter on its maiden flight. Each participant will receive a kit to build their quad; the kit will include the components to build the quad, radio transmitter, batteries, battery charger and goggles to fly their quad in First Person  View mode.

Novi Ambassador Academy

The Novi Ambassador Academy is an eight-week course that allows community members to become “students” and examine the inner workings of City government. Students will hear from staff, tour facilities and engage in the collaborative City governing process. The fall classes are presented weekly at various Novi locations. A graduation reception will take place at the conclusion of the Academy on October 24.
