New Day Camp Refund Policy

Camp Lakeshore and Camp PowerPlay cancellations must occur 14 days prior to the start of camp to receive a refund minus a $20 cancellation fee per week. Camp refunds must be submitted in writing to Recreation Supervisor, email Cristin Spiller by 5pm. Requests submitted less than 14 days will not be considered. Request for refund due to medical reasons will be considered at any time if accompanied with a doctor’s note. Refund Dates: June 3, June 10, June 17, June 24, July 1, July 8, July 15, July 22, July 29.

Location Change

CAMP LAKESHORE (Licensed by the State of Michigan Human Services Department) With Lakeshore Park schedule for construction throughout the summer of 2019, Camp Lakeshore will be hosted at Meadowbrook Elementary, part of the Walled Lake Consolidated School District. Participants will build contraptions, experience weekly artistic performances, and share in zany science experiments. Campers will enjoy water games, relay races, kickball, soccer and much more.

Camp PowerPlay (Licensed by the State of Michigan Human Services

Camp will keep kids engaged all day long with a variety of activities. While at Camp PowerPlay, participants will take nature hikes, water activities, attend Sizzling Summer Art Series performances, create crazy science experiments and play soccer, baseball and much more on the Civic Center Campus. The Civic Center Campus includes Ella Mae Power Park, Fuerst Park and the Novi Library. 

Parent friendly features include extended hours (7am to 6 pm) with no additional fee. Daily rate available for campers participating one or two days per week; three or more days will be considered a full week.

Between the hours of 7-9am and 4:30-6pm, early/late campers will take part in general recreation activities. Full camp activities take place between 9am and 4:30pm. The camps will

visit places such as Legoland Discovery Center, Novi Ice Arena, Rolling Hills Water park, Sealife Aquarium, Novi Bowl, Lansing, Red Oaks Water Park, Paradise Park and so much more! Camp PowerPlay and Camp Lakeshore have a 1:10 counselor to camper ratio. Participants must bring a lunch and drink each day. Field trips every week.

Camp PowerPlay Counselor in Training

Participants will have a special training program to learn about being a counselor and work on developing skills necessary to be an effective leader. Additionally, participants will receive instruction in teaching techniques, camping skills, human relations and child development. Those who commit to the training program will discover a lot about themselves and their leadership potential while having fun! Depending on the demand, participants will be eligible for additional two week periods. CIT training will be the week of June 11.

Carousel Acres – Day Camp on the Farm

Campers will experience life on the farm with brushing, feeding and caring for miniature horses and donkeys, calves, goats, sheep, bunnies, chickens, ducks and more! They will ride ponies, spin wool, make crafts, play games, garden and cook. Carousel Acres has amazing animals from “the land down under,” butterfl y house, reindeer, alpacas, and llamas too. Come join the City of Novi Parks, Recreation and Cultural Services Department and travel daily to a different location for a fun field trip. Some of the locations we will travel to include Paradise Park, Legoland, Archery and much more. Detroit Pistons Basketball Academy Camp

This is “Detroit Basketball” at its best. For boys and girls of all skill levels, the camp is designed to teach valuable skills as well as the concepts and rules of the game. Players will receive first-class instruction from the experienced coaching staff as they work on skill development in the morning and participate in games/ contest in the afternoon. Camp will begin with an exciting player skills combine on Monday and end with a spectacular awards ceremony on Friday, delivering a camp experience kids and parents will never forget. Meticulous Basketball Skills Training

Meticulous Basketball provides basketball skill development for athletes of all ages and skill levels. The curriculum is fun, instructional, competitive and encouraging. Some of the concepts and skills your athlete can expect to learn include:

  • Fundamental basketball skill: Dribbling, Passing, Scoring, Moving without the ball, Catching 

  • Team-play concepts to help the athlete become a contributing team member on a basketball team 

  • Playing pick-up basketball: Your athlete may become more active and confident playing sports simply by learning how to pick teams and play without a referee. 

The Meticulous Basketball staff will challenge your athlete and consider their skill set to ensure every participant leaves each session feeling accomplished and improved as a basketball player. Musical Theatre Camp*

The fast-paced thrill of live theatre is taught in this two-week workshop. In just 10 short days the students will go through auditions, blocking, character development, vocal and music lessons, choreography, costuming, and show rehearsals, ending with a complete musical theatre performance for family and friends the final evening of the camp. Students must bring a snack and lunch to each session, and need to dress in comfortable clothes and closed-toe shoes. The camp will end with a mandatory performance at 7pm on the final day of camp, and students are required to arrive by 6pm to prepare for the musical theatre performance.

Detroit Lions Fundamentals Camp

Fundamentals Mini-Camps are an opportunity for your child to build a foundation at each position on both offense and defense. This camp will focus on offensive positions (quarterback, running back, wide receiver and offensive line) and on defensive positions (defensive line, linebacker, defensive back, Heads Up Tackling). Special Teams instruction will take place throughout the mini-camp and each day of minicamp will end with what campers love to do most: Participate in a flag football scrimmage! A current or former Detroit Lions player will be in attendance one day during the weekend to work with the participants, talk to the participants and sign autographs. One day, kids will make different colors of slimes that represent their emotions and learn ways to manage them. Each day the kids will make slime to represent different lessons. Arcade Electronics Galore

Campers will program the spinning light fan to display different sayings; build and play a Home Run Derby game; build circuits to test your memory; build an electronic circuit that plays the card game 21; program the circuit board to emit different funky sounds; play with the disco ball, sirens, or a light show; learn what amps, volts, resistance and power are. Brick Building-With Lights and Sound

Follow Me Robot

How would you like to build a robot that has built-in microphones, detect sound source and it will move and turn accordingly. The robot you build will move the way you want it to move, move on its own if no commands are given in 60 seconds and go to sleep if no commands are given over 90 seconds. During the building process you will learn about the different gears and sensors. Campers will also build other robots working together in groups. Campers will also be able to participate in obstacle courses and other activities with their working robot.
