CAMP LAKESHORE (Licensed by the State of Michigan Human Services Department)

Camp Lakeshore will be returning to an improved Lakeshore Park in 2020 with a new camp building, shelter, playgrounds and enhanced walkways.

Direct benefits for campers include larger indoor space, separate bathrooms from park patrons, beach shoreline restoration, and much more. The demand for Camp Lakeshore has been consistent through the years and the new building will allow for increased attendance.

Campers will continue creating delicious treats, building contraptions, experiencing nature first-hand and sharing in zany science experiments. Campers will enjoy water sports, relay races, kickball, soccer and much more.

CAMP POWERPLAY (Licensed by the State of Michigan Human Services Department)

Camp PowerPlay will keep kids engaged all day long with a variety of activities. While at Camp PowerPlay, participants will take nature hikes, water activities, attend Sizzling Summer Art Series performances, create crazy science experiments and play soccer, baseball and much more on the Civic Center Campus. The Civic Center Campus includes Ella Mae Power Park, Fuerst Park and the Novi Library.

Parent-friendly features include extended hours (7am to 6 pm) with no additional fee. Daily rate available for campers participating one or two days per week; three or more days will be considered a full week.  Between the hours of 7-9am and 4:30-6pm, early/late campers will take part in general recreation activities. Full camp activities take place between 9am and 4: Camp PowerPlay and Camp Lakeshore have a 1:10 counselor to camper ratio. Participants must bring a lunch and drink each day. Camp Counselor in Training

The Counselor-In-Training (CIT) program is for young people who have completed at least the 9th grade. Being a camp counselor is a lot of fun - and it’s a great responsibility. Participants will have a special training program where they will learn about being a counselor and work on developing skills necessary to be an effective leader. Additionally, participants will receive instruction in teaching techniques, camping skills, human relations and child development. Two to three young people will be chosen per two-week period. Applications are available at cityofnovi.org. Applications can either be e-mailed to cspiller@cityofnovi.org or be turned into the Novi Parks, Recreation, and Cultural Services office at 45175 Ten Mile Road, attention Cristin Spiller. Depending on the demand, participants will be eligible for additional two week periods. CIT training will be the week of June 15.

Carousel Acres – Day Camp on the Farm

Campers will experience life on the farm with brushing, feeding and caring for miniature horses and donkeys, calves, goats, sheep, bunnies, chickens ducks and more! They will ride ponies, spin wool, make crafts, play games, garden and cook. Carousel Acres has amazing animals from “the land down under,” butterfly house, reindeer, alpacas, and llamas too. All campers must bring lunch, water bottle, closed toe shoes, sunscreen, swimsuit, life jacket (if needed) and towel, please label with your child’s name. Latchkey is available before and after camp. Novi Travel Camp

All the World’s a Stage – Shakespeare Camp

Why does a performer need to know Shakespeare? In some ways, we all "know" Shakespeare. Many current plays are based on or influenced by Shakespeare's stories. Plays like Lion King, West Side Story, Mean Girls and even Harry Potter all have been influenced by Shakespeare's prose! This four-day camp will include key aspects of understanding and performing Shakespeare - history and current influence, Iambic Pentameter, punctuation, monologues and sonnets. Improv Camp – Building Confidence on Stage

Acting for the Stage Camp

During this five-day camp students will learn acting, auditioning, tech and improvisation techniques in a high-energy theatrical environment, ending in a comedic performance for family and friends on the final day of class. Instructors hold degrees in Theatre for the Young, and work as drama instructors at local high schools.  Bring a snack and lunch to each session, dress in comfortable clothes and closed-toe shoes. Students will return at 6pm on the final day of camp to prepare for a mandatory performance at 7pm, which friends and family are invited to enjoy!

Musical Theatre Camp

Tiny Tot Horse Camp

Participants will get a hands-on introduction to riding. Riders will learn to steer, stop, walk and trot their ponies with the help of their camp instructor and student helper. Tiny Tots will have lots of fun learn to groom, saddle, and lead our miniature horses. Lots of games and horse activities round-out the camp experience. On Thursday at 11am there will be a show for the family and friends of our Tiny Tot riders.

Horse camp is a fun filled adventure that includes riding lessons, grooming, saddling, horseback games, scavenger hunts, feeding and caring for your own horse, and of course, making new friends. Girls Assertiveness Friendship Boot Camp

Being assertive is a life skill every girl needs to have in dealing with unfriendly friends, bullies, in negotiating, handling conflict, setting boundaries, to be taken seriously, and getting their needs met. Girls will learn and practice being assertive in their words, voice, and body language through role-playing and crafts. Girls will learn the do’s and don’ts of friendship and how to work through sticky friendship situations. This camp will help all girls no matter what their confidence level is, including girls who may be too aggressive in how they communicate to those who don’t use their voice at all. Role playing, games, friendship crafts and fitness included.

Kids Empowered Slime Time

At Kids Empowered we use slime in lots of fun ways to teach social skills and emotional management. One way we use slime is that it represents sticky situations kids face on the playground, in the classroom and at home. Kids will learn how to recognize they are in a sticky situation and learn strategies to respond to unfriendly classmates, friend comments and actions, sibling conflict and everyday challenges. One day, kids will make different colors of slimes that represent their emotions and learn ways to manage them. Each day the kids will make slime to represent different lessons. There will be a lot of games, fun and role playing to handle sticky situations in this camp. Campers should bring a snack and a water bottle.

Kids Empowered Social Skills for the Playground

Kids will learn how to problem solve to be inclusive, deal with rule changers and cheating, and how to be a friendly classmate whether you win or lose. Kids will learn exact words to say, tone of voice and how their body language should look. Kids will learn how to respond when other kids say they can’t play, or they are having private conversations. Kids will learn frustration management techniques and coping skills to help them be calm in sticky situations, so they can “act”, not “react.” Camp includes a playground tool box craft and lots of fun games.

Detroit Lions Fundamentals Camp

Fundamentals Football Mini-Camps are an opportunity for your child to build a foundation at each position on both offense and defense.  This camp will focus on offensive positions (quarterback, running back, wide receiver and offensive line) and on defensive positions (defensive line, linebacker, defensive back, heads up tackling).  Special Teams instruction will take place throughout the mini-camp.  A current or former Detroit Lions player will be in attendance one day during the weekend to work with the participants, talk to the participants and sign autographs. Camp T-shirt included with enrollment.

Challenger British Soccer Camp

British Soccer Camps provide players of all ages and abilities the rare opportunity to receive high-level soccer coaching from a team of international experts. Each day includes individual foot skills, technical drills, tactical practices, small-sided games, coached scrimmages and a daily tournament. Camp programs include a free ball, T-shirt plus a free British Soccer jersey for online registrations through challengersports.com on or before Friday, May 22.

Youth Futsal Camp

Mon-Thu, 12:30-4:30pm

Soccer players can improve their soccer skills at a faster rate through futsal. This camp uses progressive training to develop skills through fast thinking, quick reflexes, and pinpoint passing. Players will also be able to participate in a futsal tournament in Lansing at no additional cost. Tournament dates are TBD at this time, but will be late-Jun/early-Jul.
