Due Date: July 1, 2007
Delinquency Date: September 1, 2008
2008 Summer Taxes Due July 1, 2007.
Taxes remain payable without penalty through August 31, 2008.
Payments after August 31, 2008 become delinquent and
must be assessed an additional 4% penalty.
Please Note: POSTMARKS ARE NOT ACCEPTED!
Payment must be physically received by the City before the
delinquency date to avoid penalty. Payments made prior to the
delinquency date but not received until after the delinquency date
by the city are subject to all penalties.
Four ways to pay:
-
By mail to our lockbox printed on the return
envelope received with your tax bill;
-
Through the drop box located behind the Civic
Center;
-
In person from 8:00am until 5:00pm Monday through
Friday (excluding holidays)
-
By credit card through Official Payments.
If paying by mail: Return the top portion of
your bill along with your check made payable to the "City of Novi."
Please include your parcel ID number on your check. Allow
sufficient time for mailing; payments received on or after the
delinquency date will be assessed a 4% penalty.
If making payment in the drop box: Include
the top portion of your bill along with your check payable to the
"City of Novi." Please include your parcel ID number on your check.
Payments must be in the drop box before the delinquency date;
payments received on or after the delinquency date will be assessed
a 4% penalty.
If paying in person: Please bring BOTH
HALVES of your tax bill along with your check made payable to
the "City of Novi."
If paying by credit card: By phone, call
1-800-2Pay-Tax (1-800-272-9829) or visit www.officialpayments.com).
The City of Novi Jurisdiction Code Number is 3246. Please
remember, you are responsible for all fees imposed by
Official Payments for this service. Credit card transactions
cannot be processed at the Treasurer's Office.
Failure to receive a tax bill does not waive
penalty. If you have recently purchased your property, have
moved away, have changed your name, sold a portion of your property
or entered into a land contract, you must notify the Assessing
Department at 248-347-0485.
Some escrow agents may not receive a tax bill, often
in a year when your escrow information changes (new account,
refinance, or changing agent). Please contact your agent to make
sure your taxes have been paid. We are not responsible for
unpaid taxes due to nonpayment by your agent.
Legal responsibility for paying on the correct
parcel of property rests with the taxpayer. Payments made to
the wrong parcel before delinquency date does not negate penalties
on the unpaid property once the error has been found. PLEASE
CHECK THE PARCEL ID NUMBER BEFORE PAYING.
SUMMER TAX BILL DEFERMENT: A deferral of the
summer taxes is available to eligible senior citizens, totally and
permanently disabled persons, eligible widows and eligible veterans,
if total household income is $40,000 or less and who file the
necessary application for deferral with the Treasurer by August
31st. This form is available in the Treasurer's office (or by
clicking here) and MUST BE FILED EACH YEAR.
