On July 21-22, 2008, the Novi Police Department hosted "Target Focus Training" at the Novi Firearms Training Center. This was the first multi-agency class hosted at the Novi Firearms Training Center.

The sixteen (16) hour training course was conducted by Louis Chiodo, founder and owner of Gunfighters, Limited in Chula Vista, California. This intense, hands-on training provided prepares officers to win real-world, deadly force encounters.

Officers from several area agencies participated in the training at a cost of $250 each. These fourteen (14) officers represented the following agencies.

Warren Police Department
Oakland County Sheriff’s Office
Raisin Township Police Department
Wixom Police Department		 Walled Lake Police Department
South Lyon Police Department
Franklin Police Department
Northville Police Department

For hosting the class, the Novi Police Department was able to send five (5) officers to the training at no cost. The firearms instructors that attended will be able to pass along to other officers the valuable concepts that were presented. According to Chief of Police David E. Molloy, "This is a great example of using our resources, such as the Firearms Training Center, to provide valuable, low-cost training, to Novi Police Officers and our fellow officers in area agencies."

The Police Department Analysis provides a comprehensive overview and lays the framework for the City to continue to provide quality services into the future.  The Analysis was formally presented at the special City Council Meeting on November 20, 2006.
