Dream Big!

Summer and reading go hand-in-hand, especially at the Novi Public Library. We encourage all adults, teens, tweens, and youth to join this year’s Summer Reading Games as we stretch our imaginations to the limit and “Dream Big”.

As always, our Summer Reading Games are designed to encourage kids of all ages to read, but this year’s Games are bigger and better than ever! Beginning Monday, June 18, and continuing until Saturday, August 4, come into the Library or visit www.novilibrary.org to sign up for any of the Summer Reading Games. Track the time you spend reading and visit the Library to collect prizes, check out books, and attend fantastic programs! Thanks to our friends at Paradise Park, the Library is also inviting those completing the Summer Reading Games in grades K-12 to parties featuring free games, laser tag, and food right at Paradise Park! We hope to see everyone reading, learning, and enjoying big dreams this summer at the Library!

We sincerely appreciate the Friends of the Novi Public Library for their ongoing support of the Library’s Summer Reading Programs.

2ND ANNUAL BOOK IT! FUNDRAISER:
FRIDAY APRIL 27, 7-10PM!

Walk the red carpet and enjoy the glamour of show business! Hollywood Nights is this year’s fundraiser theme and supports the Library’s Multimedia Collections (DVDs, Blu-ray, and Video Gaming). Enjoy an evening of shopping, sipping, and sampling for a donation of $20 per individual or $35 per couple. See the library website for more details.

Clothing Drive: May 14-19

Help the Library’s Teen Advisory Board (TAB) and local High School Interact Club Members give back to the community. Simply clean out your closets and drop off any gently used, laundered articles of clothing into the donation box in the Library’s outer lobby during regular business hours. The Church of the Holy Family will help distribute the clothing to those in need within the community.

What do You Geek?

How does your Library celebrate your individual interests and passions? Join the Library staff, Board Members, Friends Board Members, and Teen Advisory Board Members as we march in the Memorial Day parade on May 28 to find out more - or - stop by our table after the parade to tell us what you geek!

Happy Birthday!

Celebrate the Library’s second anniversary in its new facility on June 1 with a special birthday themed Story Time. Our sincere thanks to our community in reaching this milestone!

Free passes are here!

Free “one-day” Park and Read passes into Michigan State Parks or the Michigan Historical Museum in Lansing, are available for checkout at the Library. The Library will also offer Detroit Museum Adventure Passes (MAP) again. This year’s MAP program is on-line, enabling library card holders to print their own tickets for free or discounted admissions to a variety of cultural attractions. Both programs run from May through September. See www.novilibrary.org for more information.

Treat Yourself…

…at the Read-A-Latte Café this summer with new grilled Panini sandwiches and specialty drinks like Tiger Tonic, root beer floats, and Fanta of the Opera. Stop in and see why the café was nominated as one of the best by WDIV!

NEW@THE LIBRARY

Come see the new historical display case located on the first floor of the Library. This case was purchased with monies donated on behalf of Hugh and Kathy Crawford, longtime residents of Novi and strong supporters of Novi’s history. Every four months the display case will feature a new theme. For the months of May-August, the theme is “Novi – Then and Now”. If you have any information or artifacts you would consider donating or loaning for the display case, please contact Library Historian, Kathy Mutch at 248.224.4211 or novihistory@novilibrary.org.

BOOK CHATS

The Library is proud to partner with our Novi schools to offer fantastic guest hosts to facilitate book discussions for Grades K-12 on July 19 and August 14. This is another great way to enjoy reading over the summer. Detailed information will be sent home from the schools in June and at www.novilibrary.org .
