Dream Big!Summer and reading go hand-in-hand, especially at the Novi Public Library. We encourage all adults, teens, tweens, and youth to join this year’s Summer Reading Games as we stretch our imaginations to the limit and “Dream Big”. As always, our Summer Reading Games are designed to encourage kids of all ages to read, but this year’s Games are bigger and better than ever! Beginning Monday, June 18, and continuing until Saturday, August 4, come into the Library or visit www.novilibrary.org to sign up for any of the Summer Reading Games. Track the time you spend reading and visit the Library to collect prizes, check out books, and attend fantastic programs! Thanks to our friends at Paradise Park, the Library is also inviting those completing the Summer Reading Games in grades K-12 to parties featuring free games, laser tag, and food right at Paradise Park! We hope to see everyone reading, learning, and enjoying big dreams this summer at the Library! Interested in volunteering? The Youth & Teen Services Departments are looking for students going into grades 7-12 to assist with the Summer Reading Program. Volunteers are asked to work two hour shifts once a week for at least three weeks of the program (Jun 18-Aug 4). Applications to volunteer will be available online and in the Library beginning May 1.
This is a required orientation meeting for teens who have already submitted applications to be volunteers for the Summer Reading Program. Teens only need to attend ONE of the two dates. Assignments will be given out at these meetings.

Designed to promote a love of reading, this program consists of stories, songs, conversation, and kid fun. Youngsters attend the program without an escort. Parents/caregivers must remain in the Library during the program.

Have fun with some popular chapter book series! Play games, do a craft, and sample a snack related to these series: Magic Tree House, The Boxcar Children, Rainbow Magic, and American/Michigan Chillers. There’ll be something for everyone!

Classification, patterning, and numeration are big words for a little person. Help your preschooler learn about these terms in a hands-on workshop for parents and children together. Participants will practice simple math activities they can do at home to encourage the joy of math.

Beginning Monday, June 18 and continuing until Saturday, August 4, go online or come into the Library to sign up for our Summer Reading Game. This year we will sponsor two separate games:
Using our web site, you will keep track of the time reading/being read to. Teen volunteers will be on hand to assist you with the registration process and the prize redemption. Additional information may be found in the Summer Reading Program brochures distributed in the schools in May, at www.novilibrary.org , and at the Library.
