Engineering Division Overview
What We Do:
The role of the Engineering Division is to provide quality
engineering services that promote public health, safety and welfare
in an efficient and fiscally responsible manner. The Engineering
Division is primarily responsible for performing engineering
activities related to:
The planning, design and construction of public capital
projects (i.e. public road, water and sewer projects).
Site plan review and oversight of the design and construction
of private development projects as they relate to civil
engineering infrastructure (i.e. roads, water and sewer components
of residential, commercial and industrial development projects)
Coordinating and controlling engineering inspection of public
and private construction projects.
Policy development regarding public roads and utilities
throughout the City of Novi.
Technical assistance provided to the Department of Public
Works, Planning, Environmental Services/GIS, and all other city
departments that need professional engineering support.
Who We Are:
The Engineering Division staff consists of three licensed
professional engineers, a professional construction coordinator, as
well as an administrative assistant. These five professionals have
over 70 years of combined engineering and construction experience:

Brian Coburn, P.E. - Civil Engineer
Ben Croy, P.E. - Civil Engineer
Aaron Staup - Construction Coordinator
Kathy Kendra - Administrative Assistant
