January 10, 2012, NOVI, Mich – At approximately 8:13 pm, the Novi Fire Department responded to multiple 9-1-1 calls regarding a structure fire on Wintergreen, south of Ten Mile Road, east of Beck Road. Fire Department personnel arrived on the scene in just over five minutes to find a two-story, single-family home engulfed in flames.

Preliminary information received on the scene indicated an older, disabled male may be inside. Fire crews entered 24414 Wintergreen and were able to remove a male in his early 50’s. He was subsequently transported to the U of M Burn Center in Ann Arbor. All other family members are accounted for. A Novi Firefighter is being treated at Providence Park Hospital for heat exhaustion. His injuries are non-life-threatening.

The Novi Fire Department advised the fire is under control and received assistance from the Lyon Township Fire Department.

The home appears to be a complete loss. The fire is under investigation by the Novi Fire Department, in cooperation with the Oakland County Sherriff’s Office.
