Press ReleaseNovi reaffirms Commitment to Neighborhood Roads - City Council Awards Contract for more than $980,000 for improvements
CONTACT: Sheryl Walsh, 248-735-5628 NOVI, MI, June 22, 2009 – Last week, the Novi City Council approved a construction contract for the 2009 Neighborhood Roads Program to Hard Rock Concrete, Inc., the low bidder, in the amount of $984,262. The award is further testament to Novi’s commitment to improving and maintaining neighborhood roadways. Over the past four years, the City of Novi has spent approximately $7 million on the reconstruction and rehabilitation of neighborhood roads, and this year’s project is funded through the budgeted $1.5 million through FY09-10. These are funded from City funds and are over and above Federal Stimulus or other outside dollars that the City secures.
Each year the City of Novi selects residential streets for reconstruction, repaving, and/or rehabilitation using pavement condition ratings and Department of Public Services field observations. This year’s program includes several streets that will either be completely reconstructed or rehabilitated by making major repairs. Streets to be reconstructed include:

“The city makes it a priority to answer the needs of our residents and maintain the quality of life Novi is known for,“ said Rob Hayes, City Engineer/Director of Public Services, “through the rehabilitation and reconstruction of key neighborhood roads, we hope to uphold our strong infrastructure for years to come.” Construction is scheduled to begin in July with completion in fall 2009.
