Press Release: Novi Police Department to host
Mature Driver Workshop

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
NOVI, Mich., July 1, 2008 – The Novi Police Department, in
partnership with the Traffic Improvement Association (TIA), will
host a Mature Driver Workshop August 6 - 8, 2008 from 9:00am -
1:30pm, at Holy Family Catholic Church, located at 24505 Meadowbrook
Road, in between Grand River Avenue and Ten Mile Road.
Open to
all Novi residents aged 55 or older, the Mature Driver Workshop will
provide valuable insight into each participants driving ability. The
Mature Driver Workshop will be of interest to any eligible community
member who is interested in improving their driving ability and
ensuring their safety behind the wheel.
Participants will have the opportunity to evaluate their driving
strengths, identify areas that can be improved upon and gain
knowledge about the effects aging may have on a driver’s ability.
Certified instructors will be onsite to measure break reaction time,
depth perception, visual acuity, to create driving strategies and
learn compensation skills for any diminished abilities.
TIA is a non-profit traffic safety organization based out of
Oakland County. Founded in 1967, TIA has evolved into a full service
traffic safety partner with member communities in Oakland, Wayne and

The free workshop is completely confidential and has no bearing
on the participants driving status. A complimentary lunch will be
provided and refreshments will be available throughout the program.
