FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
NOVI, Michigan, February 12, 2008 – The Novi Theatres will
present the community theatre "world premier" of the musical comedy
Father Bingo with seven performances to be held at the Novi Middle
School Auditorium, located at 49000 Eleven Mile Road.
In Father Bingo, everyone is looking for salvation; a parish
priest fights to save his church and rejuvenate the congregation, a
mayor tries to win the hearts of the voters in support of gambling-
his idea of the city's winning ticket and a woman searches for her
perfect match. Everyone believes the next number to come up will be
theirs. The stakes are raised with the introduction of bingo - one
of the most popular games in the world. When political intrigue and
mistaken identity come into play, even God has to smile while
watching these mortals figure it all out.
Professional thespian Joe
Lannen, who played the role of Father Bingo in the original
production when it debuted with a limited engagement at Detroit's
Music Hall Center for the Performing Arts in February 2006, is
excited to once again be performing on the stage. Lannen will
perform as the Mayor. "I loved playing the role of Father Bingo, but
I secretly was hoping to get the opportunity to create the role of
Mayor. Now I have that opportunity and am enjoying my involvement
with the Novi Theatres cast," commented Lannen. The opening night
audience will have a number of Father Bingo enthusiasts and original
cast members, including playwright William G. Nilsson, Rick Beyer of
5th Avenue Productions, and two of the original Vandellas, Rosalind
Holmes and Annette Helton.
