Novi Civic Center to serve as overnight warming center

Building will be open to Novi residents from 9pm-8am starting tonight

NOVI, Mich., January 29, 2019 – At the request of Mayor Bob Gatt, the Novi Civic Center will transition into an overnight warming center for Novi residents starting tonight.

With temperatures expected to dip into historic lows, Mayor Gatt asked City staff to open the facility at 45175 Ten Mile Road throughout the night for residents who need a warm place to rest. The Civic Center will be open starting tonight at 9 p.m. and remain open until 8 a.m. on Friday.

Residents will have access to clean restrooms, water, cell phone charging stations and free Wi-Fi. Pets will not be permitted inside the Civic Center.

Be sure to bring the following items as they will not be provided:

  • Blankets, sleeping bags, pillows, air mattress
  • Food and/or snacks
  • Personal hygiene items
  • Books, board games cards

Additionally, the following facilities in Novi are open during daytime hours:

  • Novi Civic Center: 8-5 p.m. Monday-Friday (45175 Ten Mile Road)
  • Novi Public Library: 10-9 p.m. Monday-Thursday; 10-6 p.m. Friday-Saturday; noon-6 p.m. Sunday (45255 Ten Mile Road)
  • Meadowbrook Commons: 8-5 p.m. Monday-Friday (25075 Meadowbrook Road)
