Novi Police officer Robert Manar promoted to sergeant

NOVI, Mich., October 19, 2017 – Novi Police Officer Robert Manar was promoted to the rank of sergeant yesterday, replacing Sgt. Patrick Fanning who recently retired after nearly 28 years in Novi.
Manar, who has been with the Novi Police Department since May 2005, was named the 2014 Police Officer of the Year by his peers and has also earned a Life Saving Award, five Merit Citations, five Unit Citations, a Perfect Attendance Award, an Individual Achievement Award and was named Employee of the Month three times.
In 2007, he was a member of the department’s fugitive apprehension team which captured 57 fugitives in less than three months, and also worked as a K-9 handler with his partner Alex until 2012. Manar then served as a Field Training Officer, training new officers in crime prevention and detection.

The ceremony on October 18 was attended by Manar’s family and colleagues, and also included an affirmation of the “Law Enforcement Oath of Honor” by all sworn Novi Police Officers in attendance.
