Older Adult Services Hosts Personal Growth Workshops

NOVI, Mich., March 14, 2017 – This spring, the City of Novi Older Adult Services Department has partnered with Ascension-St. John Providence Community Health and the Novi Police Department to help you stay in the know about your health and protect your identity. • Join us on Thursday, March 30 from 11 a.m.-12 p.m. at the Novi Civic Center to learn about the potential benefits, regulations and safety of common herbals, vitamins and mineral supplements. In the Myths and Benefits Related to Dietary Supplements Workshop, you’ll learn the truth and dispel the myths! The workshop is free and presented by Beth Theisen, RN from Ascension-St. John Providence Community Health. Pre-registration is required by calling SJP CareLink at 1.888.751.5465.

• All around the country, older adults are all too often the targets of unscrupulous scam artists. Novi is no exception. Older Adult Services is partnering with the Novi Police Department to offer a Financial Crimes, Scams and Identity Theft seminar on identity theft and financial crimes/scams presented by Detective Jeremy Stempien, an expert in this area. On Thursday, April 20 from 1-3 p.m. at the Novi Civic Center, he will speak on Identity Theft, Credit Card Fraud, Check Fraud, Tax Fraud and con artist scams which the Novi Police often see online and over the phone.
