The Novi City Council took another step toward streamlining doing
business in Novi with the approval to repeal the requirement for
Business Registration. Significant in this economic climate, the
City of Novi is giving up revenue to be a better business partner
and host to the more than 2,100 businesses in the community.
What does this mean for Novi businesses?
Businesses will no longer need to complete a Business
Registration nor pay the annual registration fee.
Why the change?
Over the past several years, Novi has made great strides in
amending ordinances and changing policy to enhance customer service
to our business community. Repealing the Business Registration
requirement will save Novi businesses time and money. Business
Registrations were initially instituted for the purpose of obtaining
emergency business contact information. Novi will still continue to
internally maintain this information through our Police and Fire
Departments.
When will this amendment take effect?
There will be no Businesses Registration requirement beginning in
2010.
