The City of Novi has classified this 1 1/3 Mile long segment as a high priority project for rehabilitation. There will be many added improvements to this roadway when complete: Added left turn lanes at the intersection of Taft and 11 Mile Roads; added and lengthened left turn lanes along the school frontages; the addition of two 5-foot wide bike lanes on either side of Taft Road along the entire length; and added motorist and pedestrian signage and signalization.
For the duration of this project, motorists can only travel northbound on Taft Road from 10 Mile Road to Grand River Avenue. Taft Road will be closed to southbound travel. The posted detour will be Grand River Avenue (east); Novi Road (south) and 10 Mile Road (west).
The contractor, Cadillac Asphalt, LLC is currently placing the first lift of asphalt on the northbound lane. Once complete, they will replace all driveway aprons on the east side. Then, the final measures will be to pave the final lift of asphalt on both sides of Taft Road, bring up the gravel shoulders, and place the final permanent pavement markings. All this work, including reopening the roadway is scheduled to take place prior to school starting.
Date of Completion: September 15, 2018
