The City of Novi has classified this 1 1/3 Mile long segment as a high priority project for rehabilitation. There will be many added improvements to this roadway when complete: Added left turn lanes at the intersection of Taft and 11 Mile Roads; added and lengthened left turn lanes along the school frontages; the addition of two 5-foot wide bike lanes on either side of Taft Road along the entire length; and added motorist and pedestrian signage and signalization.
For the duration of this project, motorists can only travel northbound on Taft Road from 10 Mile Road to Grand River Avenue. Taft Road will be closed to southbound travel. The posted detour will be Grand River Avenue (east); Novi Road (south) and 10 Mile Road (west).
The contractor, Cadillac Asphalt, LLC has placed all remaining asphalt and reopened the roadway to two-way traffic on August 31, 2018. Some restoration and signage still remains, but will be handled during 9 am and 3 pm hours utilizing flag control over the next few weeks. The two major items of work developed from the punch list walk-through were the re-establishment of the gravel shoulders and fixing a "dip" in the southbound lane, just north of Ten Mile Road.
Date of Substantial Completion: August 31, 2018
