Family Self Defense Center (FSDC) has been named a “Top Five Isshinryu Dojo in the Country” by the Karate Hall of Fame for 10 years. Get your child involved in America’s pastime this summer! In these leagues players will learn the fundamentals and basic rule comprehension of the sport. Beginner and experienced players are welcome. A jersey, hat/visor, and participation award will be included. Players provide their own glove and pants/shorts. Other basic equipment will be provided at the fields. Basketball

Winter House Basketball Leagues

Extend your season and head right back onto the court! Players who didn’t play the fall season pay an extra $20 for their jersey. Returning fall players will use the same jersey.

Returning players from the Fall House Basketball League have until November 15 to register before the program is open to the public. New players as well as returning players can register starting November 16.

Season: Practices begin the week of January 7. Season consists of weekly practices on weeknights and at least seven games. Most games will be played on Saturdays with a possibility of midweek games.

Coach Information: We need volunteer coaches! If you are interested in volunteering as a coach, please indicate so during the registration process. Coaches will receive $25 credit to their account for future use in any Novi Parks program. Coaching credits will stay on your profile for two years.

Leisure Unlimited Youth Basketball Clinic

These classes are geared toward the beginning or intermediate player. Kids will learn passing, dribbling, shooting and develop a better understanding for the game. Spring NFL Youth Flag Football

Experience the Difference – Presented by: National Flag Football

This is a 5 vs. 5, non-contact, recreational, co-ed format. Teams are limited to 10 players to maximize playing time. This is an exceptional program for players who want to learn the fundamentals of football or for those who may want to continue to enhance their skills before tackle football.

Games are played at Wildlife Woods Park and Northville Community Park on Sunday afternoons. Practices take place one hour prior to game time each week. Participates will receive an NFL reversible jersey, flag belt, and individual participation award. Games are officiated by MHSAA referees. Children are placed on teams according to their school and grade to ensure classmates are playing together.

Boys’ Lacrosse Developmental League

Coach Nick Diegel, former D1 NCAA lacrosse player, will be conducting all the player development and lacrosse instruction. The first 30 minutes of

each session will be instruction and skill development, followed by an hour of scrimmages and games. Skill development will include: offense, defense, dodging, shooting, passing, ground balls, and many other skills. Lacrosse campers will be required to provide their own equipment, including lacrosse helmet and stick. Other equipment is recommended, but not required. All Lax players will be provided a reversible jersey/pinnie, helmet sticker, water bottle, and car sticker.

The select travel soccer league is governed by WSSL (Western Suburban Soccer League). Teams practice twice a week with 8 games throughout each season (weather permitting). The full uniform is sold separately through Challenger Teamwear.

Spring WSSL Recreational Travel Soccer – NPSC Thunder

The Novi Parks Soccer Club offers a Rec travel soccer program called the Thunder that is governed by WSSL (Western Suburban Soccer League). There are no tryouts for Recreational division teams and they are formed provided there is a volunteer coach and enough players interested. We are seeking volunteer coaches and will provide a specific drill set for the players to practice in addition to scrimmages. Coaches receive a $25 credit on their registration account. Drop-ins are not allowed. All participants must sign-in at the gym entrance with the on-site supervisor.

Winter House Volleyball Leagues

Get back in the game with our winter volleyball league! Players who didn’t play the fall season pay an extra $20 for their jersey. Returning fall players will use the same jersey.

Season: Practices begin the week of January 7. Season consists of weekly practices on weeknights and seven games. Most games will be played on Saturdays with a possibility of midweek games.

Coach Information: We need volunteer coaches!  If you are interested in volunteering as a coach, please indicate so during the registration process. Coaches will receive $25 credit to their account for future use in any Novi Parks program. Coaching credits will stay on your profile for two years.

Physical activity can improve bone and heart health, improve balance and coordination, develop muscle strength, and assist with weight loss. The Novi Parks, Recreation and Cultural Services Department offers a variety of fitness classes from low-impact workouts that help strengthen and tone muscles to high-impact aerobics which helps burn fat and calories. Mats and weights provided. Listed below you’ll find a variety of fitness classes that vary from high-impact aerobics to gentle strength building. Each program includes age suggestions. High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) involves alternating between very intense bouts of exercise and low intensity exercise. The league will feature a competitive atmosphere and a perfect opportunity to get friends together to play basketball. Teams supply their own jerseys. Individuals will be placed on teams and will have the option to use Novi Parks jerseys or supply their own. Season includes: Seven nights of doubleheaders, 25-minute time limit, and an official will oversee the contest. The top four teams will play the eighth week for a shot at the championship.

The 9th annual Novi Cricket Cup will be held at the beautiful Ella Mae Power Park. Tournament will be limited to the first 12 teams and modified ‘T-ball’ cricket rules will apply. Team rosters will be due at the managers meeting on July 11. Tournament schedule will be sent out via the Cricket Cup Committee following the manager’s meeting. Some teams will have the opportunity to play under the lights.

Participants must be at least age 55 or over. Divisions: Men’s Monday, Women’s Wednesday and Mixed Thursday. Golf cart fee of $5 is paid directly to the golf course and is based on two people sharing a cart. All leagues will consist of partners playing a round-robin schedule. One single payment is required that includes the registration, scoring, greens fees and all Golf Outing/Banquet fees (except the required $5 golf outing cart fee for Riverbank members and non-members based on two individuals sharing a cart). Additional Information: All golfers are expected to attend the league orientation meeting on Tuesday, April 16 at 10am at the Novi Civic Center. No golf on May 27, July 3, and July 4.

The Novi and Northville Parks and Recreation Departments will be offering another summer of softball for 2019. Participants must turn 55 years old or older during the calendar year of 2019, but teams can have one player who is either 53 or 54. Registration will be taken on a team basis and interested free agents are welcome to contact Novi Parks. American League and National League divisions will be offered based on skill level, however, all American Leagues will be played in Novi. Season will include 12 regular season games plus a single elimination tournament. USA Softball rules will be used with modifications, and a strike mat to determine balls and strikes. Balls and fields are included. Each team will pay the umpire prior to starting the game. Mandatory Managers Meeting on Tuesday, May 14 at Novi Civic Center at 10am.

Tennis

Adult Tennis Leagues

Twelve matches are scheduled on a weekly basis with your opponent at a convenient time and location for both. Players will be assigned to the appropriate division based on their level of competitive play and leagues may be reassigned in the middle of the season to ensure equally competitive leagues. All players must submit their USTA rating, which can be determined through usta. com (professionally OR self-rated). A league banquet at the end of the season is included in the registration price and will take place on Wednesday, September 11 (Subject to change). 

Please make a note when registering if interested in scorekeeping. Division score keepers will receive a program credit equal to their registration fee at the conclusion of the season if they fulfill their duties throughout the season.

Novi Youth Hockey Association

Novi Ice Arena is home to the Novi Youth Hockey Association. The NYHA is a non-profit, volunteer lead organization committed to cultivating and developing youths in the sport of ice hockey. Both house and travel teams are offered to support players ranging from ages 4-18. There are more than 500 players and coaches registered with the NYHA, making it one of the largest in Michigan and the USA. Over the years, NYHA teams have won state and district championships, along with numerous tournament wins. The hockey season runs from early August (travel)/late August (house) through March. The house teams (beginning with the Squirt division) and the travel teams participate within the Little Caesars Amateur Hockey League (LCAHL), the nation’s largest amateur youth hockey league. The Showdown Spring Youth Hockey Program is an individually-registered B Hockey League for teams in the 10U-18U age divisions. Sticks and Pucks

Skating Club of Novi

Note

Established in 1998 with 25 members, the Skating Club of Novi is a volunteer organization that has been a member of the United States Figure Skating Association since 1999. Since then, the club has grown to over 150 members. The club is dedicated to the promotion of figure skating, and supports many activities at the Novi Ice Arena to further this goal. The Skating Club hosts the Annual Ice Show in the early spring that showcases the talents of our Learn to Skate students as well as our recreational and competitive figure skaters. Our coaching staff is for all levels of skaters, from beginner to competitive; individual freestyle and dance. In December, the Skating Club of Novi is hosts their annual Holiday Exhibition. Tickets are available in advance or at the door. Freestyle ice is available six days per week (MondayFriday mornings and afternoons, and Saturday mornings).
