Villa Barr Art Park

The City of Novi has been working hard to prepare the Villa Barr Art Park for a grand opening! The property was purchased from world-renowned sculptor David Barr to become a cultural center and source of artistic inspiration in the City. Located on Napier Road between 9 and 10 Mile Roads, the park is slated to open in October. Stay tuned to, City e-newsletters and social media for information about an opening celebration.

Novi Civic Dance

Our youth dance program is growing and we are excited for a new season! For the 2018-19 Season we will have two recitals at the Novi Civic Center, one on December 15 for fall students and one in May for spring students. *This year the recital and  costume fees are combined with the class registration, so everything is included minus tights and shoes. Baby Ballet students are not included in the recital and cultural dance classes have separate recitals.

Ballet I

Ballet I is for students looking to move beyond Princess Ballet. Students will begin with a stretch and light conditioning to increase flexibility and increase strength, and then proceed through classical ballet exercises at the barre and center. Lead by a Vaganova (Russian ballet technique) trained instructor, this class is open to both boys and girls. No class Nov 12 & Nov 24.

Novi Civic Youth Theatre

Audition Workshop

The audition process can be a little scary, especially for those who are new to the theatre. During the audition workshop we will teach the performers the material (songs and/ or dance) that will be used during the audition. This is also an opportunity to meet the production crew and other kids who are auditioning, ask questions and give your performer a bit more confidence going into auditions that weekend. Audition workshops are recommended for performers, but is not mandatory - all materials will also be available at the auditions on Saturday. The Audition Workshop is drop-in, so come when you can, stay as long as you like.

If cast, actors are expected to pay the registration fee before rehearsals begin. There is a mandatory parent meeting on Sep 25. Price includes most costume pieces, scripts, music, cast photo, and cast T-shirt. Rehearsals are generally scheduled for Tuesday/Saturday or Thursday/ Saturday and a detailed schedule will be developed after casting. Show dates are scheduled for Dec 6-9 and tickets will go on sale Nov 1, 2018.

Young Stars Theatre

Easy Folk Guitar

Within six weeks you will learn how to play simple tunes on the acoustic guitar. You will be taught to read a tablature and learn some easy strum patterns. This will enable you to learn to play dozens of songs, provided you put in some daily practice time. Acoustic or classical guitars are preferred. Finger nails on left hand should be trimmed short.

Do you love to sing and would you like to be part of sharing the joy of music within our community? Join the Novi Choralaires! The Choralaires group is seeking new members for all voice parts. All who are interested in joining for the 2018/2019 season are invited to attend the open rehearsals held on September 4 and September 11 at 7:30pm in the Novi Middle School’s choir rehearsal room, 49000 West Eleven Mile at Wixom Road.

The Novi Choralaires is a chorus of men and women from Novi and the surrounding communities brought together by a shared love of music and fellowship. The group was founded in 1975 and operates under the umbrella of Novi Parks Cultural Arts. They perform a Christmas concert series each December, a spring show in May, and at a number of venues throughout the season, which runs from September through May. Rehearsals are on Tuesday evenings at Novi Middle School from 7:30-9:30pm. For more information, contact the Choralaires at email.  The Novi Choralaires will present Holiday Caroling at the Novi Town Center on weekends during December and their Holiday Concerts in early December.
