In October 2016, the City of Novi’s Parks, Recreation and Cultural Services (PRCS) Department earned Commission for Accreditation of Park and Recreation Agencies (CAPRA) accreditation through the National Recreation and Park Association. The accreditation placed Novi PRCS as one of four accredited agencies in Michigan and one of 155 in the U.S. out of about 10,000 possible. CAPRA accreditation is the only national accreditation for park and recreation agencies and is a measure of an agency’s quality of operations, management and customer service. Achieving accreditation is a multi-year process which includes demonstrated compliance in the areas of planning; administration; human resources; financial management; facility and land use; public safety, risk management; and research and evaluation.
Novi PRCS received an mParks congratulatory resolution recognizing their CAPRA accreditation Feb. 1, 2017, during the annual state conference in Grand Rapids.
