Novi residents on the City’s Waste Management contract will receive a 96-gallon trash cart and 64-gallon recycling cart that will feature a serial number coded to their address. Residents must use the 64-gallon cart for recycling but do not have to use the 96-gallon cart for trash.
While we understand the trash cart may be larger than you are accustomed to, we ask that you try and use it before requesting a smaller size. If you would like a 64-gallon trash cart or no cart at all you must return the postcard attached to your cart to the City by November 16, 2016. This is a one-time option that only applies to the 96-gallon trash cart. If you choose to switch your cart after the designated exchange period you will be charged a $15 removal/delivery fee. Contact Waste Management at 866-797-9018 for information on cart replacement and warranty.
You will receive the following carts.
When can I put out my trash, recycling, and yard waste?
Per city ordinance, you should not put out waste or recycling bins earlier than 24 hours prior to the scheduled collection day. It is the responsibility of both the property owner and the property occupant to place refuse at the designated collection site within a refuse bin, sealed container or plastic bag to prevent objectionable odors, or spillage of refuse upon any public or private site. All receptacles must be removed from such areas no later than 12 hours following the actual collection. Trash receptacles must be placed within a totally enclosed building or placed upon an area of the rear yard of the occupant's property so as not to create a nuisance to surrounding residents.
