Honorable Robert Bondy

Hon. Robert BondyJudge Bondy was elected District Court Judge in 2002 and was re-elected in 2006.
 
Judge Bondy received his Bachelor of Arts Degree, with honors, in Criminal Justice, from Michigan State University, June 6, 1980, and Juris Doctorate Degree, cum laude, from the Detroit College of Law (now at Michigan State University) on January 28, 1985.  He has also completed other graduate study courses in public administration at Wayne State University.  Judge Bondy, in addition to being admitted to practice law in Michigan, was also admitted to practice law before the Supreme Court of the United States of America.
 
Judge Bondy has been a member of the State Bar of Michigan since 1985 and served as a hearing panelist on the District J Committee for Character and Fitness for 12 years.  Prior to being elected Judge, he was involved in the creation of the Small Claims Mediation Program at the 52-1 District Court, The Day of Court in School Program, a board member of Sobriety Court and participated in the District Court Town Hall Meeting Program.  He is a long time member of the Milford Rotary Club and Knights of Columbus.  Judge Bondy is a current member of the Michigan District Court Judges Association, Past President of the Oakland County District Court Judges Association, Novi Chamber of Commerce and Huron Valley Chamber of Commerce.
 
Judge Bondy was rated outstanding by Oakland County Bar Association, the highest rating given to judicial candidates, and was an AV rated attorney (the highest rating given for ethical standards and legal ability) by Martindale-Hubbell, a preeminent national rating service for attorneys.

Honorable Travis Reeds

Travis ReedsJudge Travis Reeds was elected District Judge in 2014. He received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Central Michigan University in 1994, and his Juris Doctorate from Wayne State University Law School in 1997. During his years as a practicing attorney, he worked with his father, Michael at the law firm of Reeds & Reeds in Walled Lake, handling a variety of cases from real estate and probate estates, to family law and criminal law.

He has lectured on various legal topics for the Oakland County Bar Association, and has lectured and written extensively for the Institute of Continuing Legal Education. He is a former member of the Oakland County Criminal Justice Coordinating Council and currently is a member of the ICLE Criminal Law Advisory Board. He has contributed to the ICLE as a Champion of Justice, including extensive work as the co-editor and co-author of two legal treatises, Michigan Criminal Procedure and Michigan Drunk Driving Law and Practice. He is also on the advisory board and contributor to the Michigan Model Criminal Jury Instructions, Second Edition. In 2013 and 2014 he was named a Michigan Super Lawyer and was selected as one of the Top 100 National Trial Lawyers.

Travis is a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in South Lyon, and is a former member of the Walled Lake Rotary club. He often donates his time and participates in various local charitable organizations in the community, including Kiwanis, Adopt a Highway program, South Lyon Pumpkinfest, among others.

Honorable David Law

David LawJudge David Law lives in Commerce Township and was appointed to the 52-1 District Court bench in February of 2015.

Judge Law is a proud graduate of Novi-Detroit Catholic Central (1987).  He earned his Bachelor of Business Administration degree, with a concentration in finance, from The University of Notre Dame (1991) and his Juris Doctorate degree from the Detroit College of Law (1995).  In addition to being admitted to practice law in Michigan courts, Judge Law is also admitted to practice in the United States Federal Court, Eastern District of Michigan.

Judge Law’s legal career includes work in private practice for the firm Sills, Law, Essad, Fielder, and Charboneau, P.C., where he specialized in family law and civil practice (1995-1998).  He then served as Assistant Oakland County Prosecutor, working extensively in Oakland County district and circuit courts (1998-2004).  Judge Law also worked as an Assistant Attorney General for the Michigan Department of the Attorney General (2009-2015), where he represented the Michigan Department of Human Services, trying cases of child abuse and neglect, including child sexual assault.

In addition to his legal background, Judge David Law was elected to two terms as State Representative (2005-2008).  As State Representative, he was the lead sponsor of numerous bills geared toward keeping our streets safe, including Michigan’s version of “Jessica’s Law”, which mandated longer prison sentences and intensive monitoring upon release from prison for child sexual predators.  He ran for Oakland County Prosecutor in 2008 and was appointed to the Commerce Township Board of Trustees in 2011, where he was elected to retain his seat in 2012.  He served as a Trustee until 2015.

Judge Law is a member of the Michigan District Judge’s Association (MDJA), and he serves on the Legislative Committee for the MDJA.  He is also a member of the State Bar of Michigan, Oakland County Bar Association and he is the Secretary/Treasurer for the Oakland County District Court Judges' Association. Judge Law is also on the Board of Directors for Lakes Area Youth Assistance (LAYA) and Novi Youth Assistance (NYA). He serves as a member of Novi Rotary, Huron Valley Chamber of Commerce, Fraternal Order of Police Lodge #128 (Wixom), Multi-Lakes Conservation Association, the Incorporated Society of Irish American Lawyers (ISIAL), Polish American Legal Society (PALS), and St. William Catholic Church (Walled Lake).
